The biggest Christmas party hits north London this month, and the 2017 William Hill World Darts Championship promises to be bigger than ever.
Back-to-back reigning and defending champion Gary Anderson is chasing a third successive title, world No 1 Michael van Gerwen, for all his dominance over the last few years, has only the 2014 crown to his name while Phil Taylor is chasing world title No 17. The field will consist of 72 players, including 16 in a Preliminary Round. Therefore, 64 players will be entered into Round 1.
This year, William Hill are to make charity donations of £9,000 to Parkinson's UK for every nine-dart finish achieved at the 2016/2017 William Hill World Darts Championship.
It is the second time the company has pledged their support as part of the annual event at Alexandra Palace, London which will run from 15 December 2016 to the 2 January 2017.
The extra boost will be the finale of a busy year for Parkinson’s UK within the darts world, as they are also the official charity partner of tournament hosts, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC).
In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the tournament will be broadcast by Sky Sports (rebranded as Sky Sports Darts from 12 December 2016 to 5 January 2017). In the Netherlands the tournament will be broadcast by RTL7.
