BBC Icons: Winston Churchill Favourite To Win But Betting Is Tight

With the BBC’s new show, Icons, starting next week, William Hill are offering odds on all the categories and the overall winner.

The most likely winner looks set to come from the “Leaders” category (4/6) with Winston Churchill heading the outright betting at 11/8 and 7/2 respectively. Churchill is odds on at 2/5 to win his category.

Third favourite to be crowned the ultimate 20th Century icon is Albert Einstein, who is 8/1 and 10/11 to win the “Scientists” category.

“We expect this market to attract a lot of interest as everyone will have a view,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “While Winston Churchill heads the betting, the list is packed with names who are all rightly classified as icons and it will be fascinating to see how or if the betting shifts based on public opinion.”
