Northern Ireland Boss’ Odds Slashed On Becoming New Scotland Manager

The odds of Michael O’Neill being named next permanent Scotland manager have tumbled after his Northern Ireland sides were edged out of World Cup qualification by Switzerland.

William Hill, make the former Hibs player Even money (from 9/1) to bag the job with Alex McLeish and Paul Lambert the 5/1 joint second favourites.

“It is clear to see that Michael O’Neill has done a fantastic job with Northern Ireland but now with the inevitable retirement of a couple of key players he has perhaps taken them as far as he can and could now be on the lookout for a new challenge,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

Next permanent Scotland manager: 1/1 Michael O’Neill; 5/1 Alex McLeish; 5/1 Paul Lambert; 12/1 Malky Mackay; 14/1 Derek McInnes; 16/1 Sam Allardyce; 20/1 BAR
