Mary Seacole Is Clear Favourite To Be The Face Of The New £50 Note

With the new polymer £50 note having been announced by the Bank of England, William Hill make Mary Seacole their 2/1 favourite to replace Boulton and Watt as the face(s) on the reverse of the note.

Rosalind Franklin at 5/1 and Ignatius Sancho at 8/1 round off the top three in the betting while other names include Margaret Thatcher at 9/1, Stephen Hawking at 12/1 Princess Diana at 16/1 and Bruce Forsyth a 66/1 outsider.

“This will be the last of the polymer notes to be unveiled and as a result we fully expect voting to be particularly fervent on this one, given that is will be the last chance for the public to voice their opinion,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “At the moment, however, there is one clear favourite – Mary Seacole.”
