Cheltenham –Ruby Walsh Saves Bookies Multi-Million Payout
Ruby Walsh, normally the bookies’ nemesis saved William Hill a multi-million pound payout today when winning the Mare’s Hurdle on Benie Des Dieux (FR). The firm were looking at a number of accas rolling up on Apple’s Jade – many people’s banker of the week in the Mare’s Hurdle - but Ruby Walsh secured his second winner of the day.
“We have gone from losing well over a million to just shading the opening day,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams. “It is not often that a Ruby Walsh winner saves us a seven figure payout.”
