Will Wantaway Players Return For Their Clubs This Weekend?

With the transfer window firmly shut until January, the futures of five players are up in the air despite their declarations that they wished to leave their respective clubs but had to be content with staying put.

With Philippe Coutinho and Virgil van Dijk both contracting mystery injuries that ruled them out of the start of the season, William Hill are now just 6/5 and 11/10 respectively that they are in the starting XIs for both Liverpool and Southampton this weekend. The pair are 3/1 (Coutinho) and 9/4 (van Dijk) to leave their clubs in January.

“With no moves for the stricken Coutinho and van Dijk, we think there is every chance that they will be Lazarus like in their appearance on the teamsheets this weekend,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

Alexis Sanchez and Riyad Mahrez are 2/7 and 1/6 to start this weekend.

Ross Barkley was the subject of perhaps the most bizarre Deadline Day story and the Everton midfielder is odds on at 8/11 to leave the club in January.

To start this weekend:
