Punters Backing Ferrari To End Mercedes Monopoly

With the Australian Grand Prix and F1 season starting in the early hours of Friday, William Hill can report more support for the Ferraris than the Mercedes, however it last season’s winning constructor who dominates the betting.

Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen are the best backed for the Australian Grand Prix at 7/2 and 7/1 respectively, while in the Championship they have again been the two best backed drivers at 7/2 and 9/1.

In the Drivers, Vettel has attracted 23.2% of all bets in the market with Raikkonen receiving 13.5%. In contrast, Lewis Hamilton has seen 10% of all wagers to win the Drivers.

Conversely, Lewis Hamilton heads the betting for both markets. He is 10/11 to win on Sunday and just Even money to end the season on top.

“It would appear that the solid testing from the Ferraris and the relatively large prices for their two drivers has led to punters backing them to finally break up the Mercedes monopoly,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “Despite this, however, we have a different opinion and still fancy Lewis and the Mercedes to get the job done.”
