POLITICAL punters have rushed to bet that the NIC fiasco will ultimately cost Chanceller Philip Hammond his job - and bookmakers William Hill have slashed their odds for him to be a former Chancellor by the time the next General Election takes place, from 7/2 (22% chance) to 5/2 (28% chance).
However, Hills still believe he can survive and offer 2/7 (78% chance) from 1/6 (86% chance) that he will do so.
'Mr Hammond will be hoping that the aftermath of the NIC affair is soon forgotten' said ill's spokesman Graham Sharoe, 'But we have seen a flurry of three figure bets for him to lose that job and he is certainly not out of the woods yet'
