Leicester In The Champions League: Ultimate Underdogs Could Cost Bookies Millions Again

William Hill are fearing another bookie bashing from Leicester, one year after their sensational 5000/1 Premier League victory. The Foxes are the worst result possible for the bookies in this year’s Champions League and should they lift the trophy in Cardiff could end up costing the industry an eight figure sum.

“Leicester cost us a fortune last season and while they are still the outsiders of eight to win the Champions League, they are our worst result with one in four bets on this year’s competition being for them,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

Leicester face Sevilla on Wednesday in the Champions League and at 10/1 are the biggest price an English team have ever been to win a Champions League match.

“Leicester are one of the biggest underdogs we have ever seen in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and certainly no English side has ever been in double figures to win a match at any stage of this competition,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “Having said this, Leicester have revelled in their underdog status for the last couple of years.”
