Hills Hoping To Avoid Ballyandy Bashing

Ballyandy is the 4-1 favourite with William Hill for the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury and the firm expect the industry to take a battering if he wins.

William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke: “If Ballyandy wins it would be the worst result of 2017 so far. We’re looking at multimillion pound losses across the industry should Ballyandy be brought in to the winners’ enclosure.”

Native River (4-5 favourite) faces just two rivals in the Denman Chase. Bristol De Mai is a very worthy opponent and is 5-4 in the betting, with Le Mercurey the outsider of three at 10-1.

Altior is 4-7 market leader for the Game Spirit, with Fox Norton likely to challenge at 5-2 and Traffic Fluide at 7-1 not ruled out.
