El Terremoto Shakes Up Betting

Rolling Dylan heads the betting with William Hill at 11-2 for the Heroes Handicap Hurdle at Sandown this weekend.

But the best-backed horse is Nigel Twiston-Davies’ progressive hurdler El Terremoto, who is 8-1 from 10-1 with William Hill.

Philip Hobbs has trained the winner of the race twice in the last three years. His favourite, Rolling Dylan, won at Uttoxeter before running a good race to finish second behind Shantou Bob at Chepstow most recently. The horse who finished third that day, Desert Sensation, is the biggest mover in the market, shortening from 14-1 to 7-1.

“Philip Hobbs has had two ‘Heroes’ in the past three years, but Nigel Twiston-Davies will hope his El Terremoto can shake up the opposition,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

The Edinburgh National at Musselburgh is tight at the front end of the market. Just A Par for Paul Nicholls leads the way at 11-2 with William Hill, but the company have seen little interest in the top weight. Alvarado (6-1 from 9-1) and Gonalston Cloud (7-1 from 8-1) are the two attracting most support.

“We’re top price on Just A Par but it is ominously quiet. We’ve hardly laid a bet on him despite a busy Edinburgh National market. Alvarado and Gonalston Cloud are well supported,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
