Coneygree Eased As Bradstock Casts Doubt

William Hill pushed Coneygree out to 20-1 from 14-1 for the Gold Cup after it was revealed the 2015 winner is touch-and-go to run at Cheltenham. However, the firm stopped short of scratching the horse from the betting.

“The Gold Cup is still two months away and a lot can happen in that period of time, so we’re reluctant to remove Coneygree from the betting entirely until we know for certain that he won’t run,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “Based on our betting percentages, Colin Tizzard is now just 2-9 to train the winner of the Gold Cup this season.”

Colin Tizzard’s Thistlecrack remains 4-5 favourite, but William Hill cut two other horses from the yard after the Coneygree news. Native River has been docked to 6-1 from 7-1, while Alary is 25-1 from 33-1. Fellow Tizzard inmate Cue Card is at 12-1, the same price as last year’s champion Don Cossack.
