Chelsea To Turn Tenner Into £71,00 For Essex Punter?

One lucky punter in Romford looks set to win big if Chelsea land the Premier League title against West Brom tonight. The £10 wager placed at the start of the season could return £70,885 should the Blues bag the requisite three points at the Hawthorns.

Chelsea are the final leg of a 6 team accumulator placed before the start of the season by the mystery punter which will, barring any monumental slip-ups by Conte’s side, have overcome odds of 7087/1.

“Given that this bet was placed so long ago and for such a small stake, no one can recall the customer.  However, should Chelsea get the three points they need, we expect the punter will be coming to collect his/her winnings very shortly,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

The winning bet is made all the more incredible by the fact that Newcastle (who were on the slip) only won the Championship after Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish scored an 88th minute goal in his side’s final match against Brighton AND despite Portsmouth (who were also backed) only being top of League Two for the final 34 minutes of the season.

“Newcastle and Portsmouth were very well backed at the start of the season yet both left it late to claim their respective titles and this punter will be glad that they did because if Chelsea can pick up three points over the course of their final three games they will win an incredible sum of money,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
