Champions League: Leicester To Outfox The Bookies For Millions Again?

Leicester’s Champions League adventure continues this week as they face Atletico Madrid and bookmakers, William Hill, can report that they are the longest price any English side has EVER been to win a single game at any stage since the competition’s inception. They are 10/1 to come away from the Calderon with a victory.

The Foxes are 7/2 to qualify for the semi-final with Atletico just 1/6.

Despite spending much of the season struggling in the Premier League, Leicester’s Champions League performances have attracted many fans.

Despite losing their first leg match against Sevilla in the quarter finals and being pushed out to 80/1 to win the competition, William Hill punters could not get enough of the Foxes and continued to back them to win the Champions League. If Leicester win the competition, they could once again end up costing the betting industry millions.

“A lot of people failed to jump on the Leicester Premier League bandwagon last season and missed out on some huge payouts, so have been backing them this time round as if they cannot lose the Champions League,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “As things stand, they are our worst result for the competition by a considerable distance. They represent the best backed side and 25% of all wagers to win have been for them. Put into context, Juventus are the next best backed side with 16% of all bets.”
