Can Yan Stake Champion Claim?

Yanworth is 4-6 with William Hill to win the Kingwell Hurdle this weekend. Based on his wins in the Ascot Hurdle and Christmas Hurdle, he is the one to beat, although the opposition will be no pushover. This weekend’s race has the potential to either enhance or harm his Champion Hurdle claims, for which he is currently 7-2 second-favourite.

Irving is a Grade 1 winner and is 8-1 in the betting, while 10-1 chance Capitaine might have beaten Finian’s Oscar in the Tolworth Hurdle if he hadn’t made a bad mistake at the penultimate hurdle. Last year’s winner Rayvin Black is 12-1.

Cue Card is 2-5 favourite for the Ascot Chase. He won his only start at the track, when winning this race in 2013.

“Cue Card will be tough to beat in the Ascot Chase and Colin Tizzard will be hoping to boost his trainers’ title chances,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Tizzard is currently 9-2 second-favourite to be Champion Trainer, behind 2-9 favourite Paul Nicholls.

Meanwhile, Blaklion has more than halved in price for the Grand National Trial. He started the week at 10-1 and is now 9-2 favourite.
