Budget Betting

BOOKMAKERS William Hill do not believe that this week's Budget will contain a tax cut for 45% top rate payers - and offer odds of 11/2 about that happening - and 1/10 that the rate will either remain unchanged or be raised.

Hills are also betting on words and phrases that the Chancellor may utter during his speech - and offer 1/12 that he will mention 'NHS', 1/ 4 that he will say 'Brexit'; 2/5 'Oil prices'; 2/1 'British people'; 2/1 'Donald Trump' ; 4/1 'Immigration'; 5/1 'Fake news'; 8/1 'Just about manage'.

Hills make it an 8/11 chance that Mr Hammond will speak for 50 minutes or over; Even money that he finishes in under 49 minutes.
