Boris Johnson’s Odds Cut To Become New Tory Leader

Boris Johnson has revealed his “vision for a bold, thriving Britain” post Brexit and this has led many to suggest he is readying a tilt at the leadership. William Hill have cut the odds of the Foreign Secretary from 8/1 to 5/1 to be the next permanent Conservative leader just behind David Davis who is 4/1 favourite.

With the UK set to leave the EU in 2019, it is that year which is the favourite for Theresa May to leave office as PM at 2/1 while she is 5/2 to leave in 2018.

“It is no secret that Theresa May’s position as PM has always been under threat and Johnson’s odds have been cut as he seems to be jostling for position,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

Next permanent Conservative leader after Theresa May: 4/1 David Davis; 5/1 Boris Johnson; 7/1 Jacob Rees-Mogg; 8/1 Phillip Hammond; 11/1 Amber Rudd; 14/1 Ruth Davidson; 16/1 Damian Green; 20/1 BAR

When will Theresa May leave office as PM: 7/2 2017; 5/2 2018; 2/1 2019; 9/1 2020; 14/1 2021; 5/1 2022 or later
