Bookies Reckon Woolly Mammoth Unlikely To Stage Comeback

Bookies William Hill reckon the chances are remote that a mammoth or ‘mammophant’ is born within the next few years.

William Hill offer 33/1 that scientists manage to produce a living mammoth or ‘mammophant’ – a hybrid animal with both elephant and mammoth DNA – by the year 2022.

It follows reports that a Harvard science team, led by Professor George Church, think that the de-extinction of a woolly mammoth ‘could happen in a couple of years’.

William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke says: “We reckon the chances of scientists bringing back the mammoth in the near future are woolly at best.”
