Bookies Cheer Favourable Results…Conte 13/8 To Go Before End Of Season

The bookies were cheering the start of the Premier League season as top selection, Chelsea, surprisingly lost their opener at home to Burnley. The Blues were 2/9 with William Hill to win the match and were backed by 55% of all customers who bet on the football on Saturday. Added to them, Crystal Palace were  fourth best backed to beat Huddersfield and Liverpool were fifth best backed to win away at Watford.

So unfancied were Burnley and Huddersfield that the double with William Hill paid 70/1 for the pair to win (12/1 Burnley, 9/2 Huddersfield).

“No one gave Burnley a hope after their away day woes last season and they were the biggest priced side of the day in the top four English divisions while 31% of all football punters backed Palace to triumph over Huddersfield,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “It has been an incredibly unpredictable day indeed.”

Antonio Conte has made no secret of his displeasure at the lack of transfer activity at the club and after the worst possible start, he is just 13/8 to have left the club by the end of the season.

Will Antonio Conte still be Chelsea manager on the final day of the season: 4/9 there; 13/8 gone
