Arise Sir Lewis: Hamilton Backed For SPOTY And Knighthood

William Hill have cut the price of Lewis Hamilton winning this year’s BBC Sport’s Personality of the Year from 8/1 to 11/2 after Anthony Joshua’s relatively routine victory on Saturday and Hamilton’s Championship win on Sunday. Joshua has drifted from 1/3 to 2/5.

Hamilton is also 4/1 to pick up a knighthood in the New Year’s Honours list and the 15/8 favourite to win next year’s Drivers’ Championship.

“Despite his continued success on a global level, Hamilton has only picked up the Sports Personality of the Year once but his odds for this year’s are tumbling and it looks very likely he could well pick up an honour from the Queen as well come the New Year,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
