Alvarado is challenging Just A Par for Edinburgh National favouritism. Fergal O’Brien’s staying chaser has been cut by William Hill to 6-1 from 9-1 in the past 24 hours. Just A Par is still holding the top of the market at 11-2, but Dancing Shadow, Five In A Row and Seldom Inn are also lining up to challenge at 6-1.

“Alvarado is overdue a win and if you follow the money then he’s the one to beat on Saturday,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Meanwhile, in the Heroes Handicap Hurdle, Desert Sensation has halved in price. He’s now 7-1 from 14-1 with William Hill.
