£100m Fight To Break All Boxing Betting Records

William Hill are expecting this weekend’s big fight between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko to attract a global betting turnover of £100m with £20m of that being wagered in the UK.

 

Joshua is the 4/9 favourite with the match sponsors and has certainly attracted the bulk of the home support. 45% of all wagers have been on Joshua with two bets of £10,000 – one from Coventry and one from Paisley. Klitschko, on the other hand has attracted 37% of all wagers with the biggest on him coming from a client in Slovakia who has staked €8,000 at odds of 2/1.

 

The average bet so far on the fight is £34.21.

 

In terms of the most popular round betting Joshua has been heavily backed to win in the fourth at 16/1 and Klitschko has been backed to win in the third at 55/1.

 

“This is the fight that could really propel Anthony Joshua to superstardom and show that he is the real deal,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “This could well be the biggest boxing match, in terms of betting, of all time.”
