William Hill Hoping To Avoid Rogue Trader

William Hill are hoping to turnover more in Wednesday’s Irish Daily Mirror Novice Hurdle and the Guinness Handicap Chase to make-up for the Punchestown Gold Cup, which they believe is now unlikely to attract much money.

“It’s great to see Cue Card in action again after such a magnificent season, but from a betting perspective he is a prohibitive price. It’s a dead betting race and we’ve hardly laid a thing,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

However, William Hill are hoping for an upset in the Irish Daily Mirror Novice Hurdle, where Bellshill is the 5-2 favourite.

“There are some potential improvers in the line-up who could do us a favour, but Bellshill could be a tough nut to crack,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

The Guinness Handicap Chase is wide open, with the bogey for bookies likely to be Rogue Trader, who is well-handicapped on his second to Douvan at the start of the season.

“Hopefully our traders are far shrewder than Nick Leeson and even if Rogue Trader wins, it won’t have much ‘Baring’ on our Punchestown Festival week,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
