William Hill Fear Guineas Favourites

William Hill have revised prices for the 2000 Guineas after the five-day declarations and Air Force Blue is the 4-6 favourite.

Air Force Blue has been favourite for the 2000 Guineas since winning the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh last August (he was slashed from 16-1 to 8-1 favourite following that victory). His price was further cut to 5-1 after he landed the Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes at the same track in September. Following an impressive performance to score in the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes, Air Force Blue was shortened to Even-Money. He is easily the worst result in the book for William Hill.

“There’s a decent chance that Air Force Blue and Minding could both win and we’re fearful of a double bashing from Aidan O’Brien,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Stormy Antarctic has been popular in the market since winning the Craven Stakes and Ed Walker’s horse was trimmed from 8-1 to 6-1 with William Hill on Monday morning before the declarations came through.

Meanwhile, in the 1000 Guineas, Minding has been cut to 11-8 from 6-4 with William Hill for Sunday’s fillies’ Classic, following the latest stage. Minding was at the head of the market after winning the Moyglare Stud Stakes in September (she was 8-1 after the race). Ballydoyle usurped her as favourite after she won at Longchamp, but Minding returned to the head of the betting after winning the Dubai Fillies’ Mile (4-1 from 8-1). She has stayed at the top of the betting since then.

Aidan O’Brien has also been trimmed to 16-1 from 20-1 with William Hill to win all five English Classics this season.

“Aidan O’Brien could win all the Classics this year and that could hit the bookmakers right in the moneybag,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
