Will Nick Skelton Be Andy Murray’s Biggest SPOTY Challenger?

Andy Murray is the clear favourite to win this year’s Sports Personality of the Year at 1/8 but the big movement in the market has come in the shape of Nick Skelton. He is 25/1 with William Hill to win the award and following a £6,000 wager (£4k at 12/1 and £2k at 10/1) from a London punter, he is now just 8/1 in the betting without Andy Murray. Additionally, the same punter has wagered £4,000 at 9/4 that Skelton will finish in the top three.

“It is all but certain that Andy Murray is going to win SPOTY but with the chasing pack jostling for position behind him, the latest run of money seems to suggest that Nick Skelton will at the very least finish in the places,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
