Where Will Melbourne Cup Winner Be Trained?

Oceanographer is very much in the picture for the Melbourne Cup after winning the Lexus Stakes. He's now 7-1 from 25-1 with William Hill to prevail in the 'Race That Stops A Nation'.

Meanwhile, Big Orange has been cut to 10-1 from 12-1 by Hills after getting a favourable draw in Stall 7.

There is a strong foreign assault on Australia’s biggest race and William Hill offer 11-4 that this year’s Melbourne Cup winner is trained in Britain – a feat that has never been achieved before. It’s 4-1 that the winner is trained in Ireland, while it’s 1-2 that any other nation is victorious (including the hosts Australia).

“This year may finally be the year that Britain wins the Melbourne Cup,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Bondi Beach has been strongly backed since August. Originally he was 25-1 but is now just 7-1.

Recent William Hill Cox Plate runner-up Hartnell is favourite at 4-1, while Caulfield Cup winner Jameka is 6-1.
