Westwood Wins William Hill Scottish Sprint Cup

World class golfer Lee Westwood is celebrating after winning one of the biggest horse races in Scotland, the William Hill Scottish Sprint Cup.

Hoofalong, trained by Mick Easterby and ridden by Nathan Evans, swooped home to win the feature race at Musselburgh, which has a prize pot of £100,000.

It’s a timely boost for the British golfer ahead of the US Open next week (William Hill make Lee Westwood 80/1 to win).

“Musselburgh is home to the oldest golf course in the world, so what better man to win the big race than Lee Westwood,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Westwood co-owns Hoofalong with his great friend and manager Chubby Chandler, along with David and Yvonne Blunt.
