Wenger Out, Vieira In As Leicester Fans Goad Bookies On Twitter…
It seems as though the pressure on Arsene Wenger has really ramped recently up and while he is 40/1 to be the next manager to leave his job, he is just 10/3 to no longer be the Gunners boss on the first day of next season. Arsenal are 7/2 third favourites to win the Premier League behind Leicester and Spurs and ahead of the North London Derby this weekend (for which the Gunners are 2/1 to win) Tottenham are odds on at 4/6 to finish above their rivals this season.
Should Arsene Wenger leave Arsenal, Patrick Vieira is the 7/1 favourite to take over with Diego Simeone 8/1 and Ronald Koeman 10/1.
“Even the most ardent of Arsenal fans must be feeling that Wenger’s time is up and Patrick Vieira could be in line to make an emotional return if the odds are to be believed,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
365 days ago, Leicester were just 3/10 second favourites (behind Burnley at 1/4) to be relegated from the Premier League, however, they are now the 7/4 favourites to win the competition – a huge difference from when they were 5000/1 at the start of the season. Just 25 people backed them at the start of the season at that price with the biggest wager just £20 – placed in Manchester.
“We have had a number of enquiries about cash out vales on Leicester, however, no one has yet taken the bait,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “We have even had a few punters goading us on Twitter saying that they are going to take us to the cleaners if Leicester win the Premier League. They certainly will do as a title victory for the Foxes would result in a plus £2m payout.”
