Welsh Wagers To Breach £30m…Bookies Braced For Potential Patriotic Payout

Ahead of the biggest game in the history of the Wales national team, William Hill are predicting that up to £30m could be wagered on the game. Wales are slight outsiders, however, they have been for the majority of the tournament. Before qualifying started in 2014, Wales were 250/1 to win the tournament while they are now just 8/1.

A victory in the tournament for the Dragons would see the betting industry paying out over £20m.

“After England were knocked out, Wales immediately became our worst result in the outright market,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “Punters have been piling in all week and they are banking on Bale and co to boost their coffers. We’ve rung round our shops in Cardiff and the Welsh wagers outnumber the Portuguese punts by 50 to 1.”

Wales are 6/4 to qualify and 3/1 to do so in 90 minutes but the bookies will be hoping for another draw in what has been a positive tournament to date for layers.
