War Decree Wins Vintage Stakes JI

War Decree won the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and enhanced the armoury of Aidan O’Brien for next year’s 2000 Guineas. O’Brien now has the top three in the betting for the Newmarket Classic.

William Hill cut War Decree to 11-1 from 16-1 after the victory, with only stablemates Caravaggio (7-2 favourite) and Churchill (8-1) ahead of him in the betting.

“War Decree was heavily backed and the punters have opened the scoring at Glorious Goodwood,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
