Tizzard Hopes River Runs Gold

Colin Tizzard’s yard is flying after a weekend of success with the magnificent Cue Card taking the first leg of the Chase Triple Crown. This weekend, Tizzard holds another hot pot with Native River the 11-2 favourite with William Hill for the Hennessy Gold Cup.

“Colin Tizzard is fast becoming the punters’ favourite trainer and Native River could propel him up the Trainers’ Championship table,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Tizzard is 6-1 with William Hill to win the 2016/17 National Hunt Trainers’ title, having shortened from 8-1 after Cue Card’s Saturday win. He was originally priced at 25-1 to land this year’s Championship.

“While Colin Tizzard doesn’t have the sheer numbers in terms of firepower that Paul Nicholls has, he does have some superstars like Cue Card and Thistlecrack who could really aid his title challenge,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

In terms of bets on the Hennessy, Vyta Du Roc has shortened to 8-1 from 10-1, Henri Parry Morgan is 12-1 from 16-1 and Theatre Guide has been trimmed to 20-1 from 25-1, following the five-day declarations.
