Following the announcement that Sammy Lee is stepping down as England assistant manager, William Hill are looking at who could potentially replace him or just join Gareth Southgate’s coaching staff. Former Boro defender, Colin Cooper is a 7/4 shot to join the England set up.

Gary Neville is 5/1 , with brother Phil and Steven Gerrard both 6/1. The trio of Alan Shearer, Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand are all 8/1 to join Gareth Southgate’s team.

“Gareth Southgate wants to bring in his own team and that could well include some names that he has played with and  who have a knowledge of the England set up,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
