Sadiq Khan't Lose

Sadiq Khan is a red-hot favourite to become London Mayor, say bookmakers William Hill, who give the Labour candidate a 92% chance of success, by quoting him at odds of  1/12 favourite (stake £12 for profit of £1), with his only serious rival, Zac Goldmsith now quoted at 6/1 to cause an upset.

53.3% of all money gambled on the outcome has been for Khan, say William Hill, but only 23.5% of actual bets struck have been for him – for Goldsmith the figures are 43.5% and 34.7% respectively. The biggest bets for each candidate have been £20,000 from a West Sussex client on Goldsmith, (at odds of 5/2) and £15,000 on Khan at 4/11 from a Yorkshire customer.

'The longer the contest has gone on, the hotter a favourite Khan has become' said William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

William Hills also have a market on who – excluding Khan and Goldsmith – will attract the most First Preference votes and make Peter Whittle (UKIP) 6/4 favourite with Sian Berry  (Green) 7/4; Caroline Pidgeon (LD) 9/4 ;George Galloway (Resp) 20/1; P Golding  (Brit 1st)150/1; D Furness (BNP) 250/1. Any other – 100/1..

To become Mayor: 1/12 Khan; 6/1 Goldsmith; 50/1 Galloway; 125/1 Pidgeon; 150/1 Berry & Whittle.
