Rush Of Money On Benitez To Replace McLaren

William Hill have cut the odds on Rafa Benitez being named as the next Newcastle manager from 5/1 to 2/1 following a surge of betting on Wednesday morning. The former Liverpool boss is the second favourite behind David Moyes at 11/10 to become the next permanent boss when/if Steve McLaren steps aside.

Newcastle have a match against Leicester on Monday night yet it is just 5/1 that Steve McLaren leaves the club before midnight on Sunday. He is 1/12 to be the next Premier League manager to leave his job.

“McLaren looks to be fighting a losing battle to save his Newcastle job,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. It looks as if there was a time that Newcastle would be thinking of getting rid of McLaren, it would be now.”
