Osborne 5/2 To Become Home Secretary
GEORGE OSBORNE's odds of becoming the next Conservative leader have been doubled by bookmakers William Hill from 2/1 favourite to 4/1second favourite following IDS's resignation, and he has been heavily backed from 6/1 to 7/2 to leave the role of Chancellor during 2016.
William Hill have also begun betting on what George Osborne's next Cabinet job will be – and quote him at 5/2 to become Home Secretary and 6/1 Foreign Secretary.
'In betting terms, we can't give George Osborne away at the moment in the next Leader market' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe, 'But he is being well backed to stand down as Chancellor this year and if that happens he seems certain to be moved to another high profile job as David Cameron appears still to be supportive of him'
Following the IDS resignation, William Hill offer 3/1 that another Cabinet Minister will quit before the EU Referendum takes place.
