O'Brien Hotpot For Chester Vase

William Hill have released the first betting market on the Chester Vase and Aidan O’Brien’s US Army Ranger is 2-5 favourite to win.

He would be following in the footsteps of four of the last five winners of the race and scoring for the Ballydoyle maestro (2011 Treasure Beach, 2013 Ruler Of The World, 2014 Orchestra, 2015 Hans Holbein).

“US Army Ranger could go clear Derby favourite with an impressive performance in the Chester Vase,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “We don’t think Minding will end up in the Derby, but we’re quoting her with a run because of public interest. We believe Coolmore would prefer one of their colts to win the Derby, because they earn far more from a champion stallion at stud.”
