Not Tonight, Josephine!

Josephine Gordon will have to pull out all the stops if she is to win the Apprentice Jockeys’ Championship. Bookmakers William Hill put Tom Marquand as the overwhelming 1-3 favourite, with Gordon 9-4 to triumph.

Reigning Champion Apprentice, Marquand is on 39 winners, with Gordon on 35 and Adam McNamara on 29. McNamara has a 20-1 outside chance.

“Josephine Gordon needs to close the gap on Tom Marquand if she’s going to win the Apprentice title, but she’s got bags of ability and punters might just be tempted by her odds,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
