Nicholls Holds Favourite's Tag

Paul Nicholls is 4-6 favourite with William Hill to win the Trainers’ Championship as we head in to the crucial final few days of the National Hunt season, with Willie Mullins 11-10 to triumph.

This Saturday’s feature race sees five entries for Nicholls (Southfield Theatre, Wonderful Charm, Rocky Creek, Just A Par and Pacha Du Polder) and three for Mullins (Sir Des Champs, Pleasant Company, Measureofmydreams).

And it is Nicholls who holds the key in the betting, with William Hill making Southfield Theatre the 7-1 favourite.

“The Trainers’ Championship has come down to the wire. There are such small margins between them that one amazing day for either Paul or Willie could seal the title,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “The betting has been volatile, with Mullins 1-10 favourite at the start of Saturday and by the end he was the outsider at 11-10. Nicholls was 5-1 before winning the Scottish National and now he’s odds-on favourite. It’s too close to call.”
