Moon Racer And Larchmont Lad Impress

Moon Racer got the better of Ballyandy in an exciting match-up at Perth. The pair of former Champion Bumper winners had a real go at each other in the closing stages with the David Pipe-trained runner just coming out on top.

William Hill make Moon Racer second-favourite at 16-1 for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, with Ballyandy at 20-1. The prices are the opposite in the Neptune, with Ballyandy at 16-1 and Moon Racer at 20-1.

“Clearly the pair will be up there with the top novices, but there is a long season ahead, so we’re not going overboard at this stage,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Meanwhile, Larchmont Lad waved ‘Tata’ to the favourite Escobar in the Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket. Hugo Palmer’s horse had been lined-up for a big run, but Richard Hannon’s 8-1 chance prevailed. He’s now 50-1 for next year’s 2000 Guineas, with Hills blowing Escobar out of the betting.
