Sadiq Khan is now 2/7 favourite to become the next Mayor of London with William Hill, who offer Zac Goldsmith at 5/2.
William Hill have also opened a betting market on who will secure the most first preference votes excluding these two, and make UKIP's Peter Whittle 13/8 favourite, with Sian Berry (Green) 9/4; Caroline Pidgeon (Lib Dem) 11/4 and George Galloway (UK Respect) 9/2.
'Khan and Goldsmith seem to have the contest between them and punters are backing both of them with hefty wagers – up to £5000 a time for Khan, while Goldsmith has attracted one bet of £20,000, but the race to win the most first preference votes among the other contenders looks too close to call with any confidence' said William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
SANDERS' LATE SURGE
Bernie Sanders' odds of becoming US President have been cut from 25/1 to 16/1 third favourite by William Hill as the race to the White House begins to move into its latter stages.
However, William Hill still see Hillary Clinton as the most likely winner, quoting her at 4/9 favourite, with Donald Trump the 11/4 second favourite.
'Mr Sanders has begun to attract some serious support in recent days, and with many observers expecting the Republicans to end up with a brokered convention there is still some doubt that the ultimate showdown will be between the hot favourites, Clinton and Trump, who are 1/3 to be the final two' said William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
William Hill currently offer odds of 2/5 that the EU Referendum will result in a 'Remain' majority, and 15/8 that 'Brexit' will prevail.
