How Many Willie Win?

Willie Mullins has been the man to follow at Cheltenham in recent seasons, claiming the Festival Trainer title five times out of the last six.

William Hill have priced up the odds for how many winners Willie Mullins will train at this year's Festival, but the prices suggest he may be in for a smaller haul than the last couple of years.

It's 5/4 favourite with William Hill that Willie trains six winners or less at the 2017 Festival. It's 11/8 between seven and nine, while it's 11/4 for 10 or more victories.

Mullins trained seven Festival winners last season and a record eight in 2015. But the bookies think he may fall short of that number this time round.

"The removal of the Gigginstown horses from Willie's yard and the loss of Vautour, means it is less likely we will see a record number of Festival winners. Having said that, Willie Mullins is still very much the man to beat," said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Mullins is 2/9 to be top Cheltenham Festival trainer. His nearest rival is Gordon Elliott at 7/1, while this season's hot trainer Colin Tizzard is 33/1.
