Gamble On Low Turnout In Referendum

William Hill have seen a gamble on a low turnout in the EU Referendum.

William Hill have been offering odds for the voter turnout to be 68% and over, or under 68% - and after taking a string of bets – in fact, 65% of all bets staked so far – for the higher option, have cut the odds for Under 68% from 10/11 to 8/13.

'Almost two thirds of the bets we've taken so far – 65%- have been on the voter turnout being under 68%, with one client from Manchester staking £825 on that option' said William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe, 'We're a little surprised, given that the Scottish Referendum produced a turnout of 84.6% and June 23rd is entitled to be a decent day weather-wise. Perhaps punters believe voters will be fed up with the whole subject by then!'
