Horse Racing Grand National By Jon Ivan-Duke

Clouds 7-1 Favourite As Aintree Nears

Many Clouds is the 7-1 favourite with William Hill for Saturday’s Crabbie’s Grand National Chase, the most watched and most bet upon race of the year.

William Hill expect to take over £30million in wagers on the Grand National, with plenty of punters already holding tickets on last year’s winner, Many Clouds.

The Oliver Sherwood-trained champion, who landed the race in 2015, is bidding to become the first horse to win a second Grand National since Red Rum. (Red Rum won the race in 1973, 1974 & 1977)

“Many Clouds is the best-backed horse for this year’s Grand National and he could start significantly shorter if the British public get behind him,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

“However, there is usually a surprise horse that attracts support from once-a-year punters placing their only annual bet and we won’t find out who that is until the day.”

Last year, William Hill saw record betting peaks of 25,000 bets per minute across all channels, with £13million dished out in winnings to lucky punters.
