Closest X Factor Final In History Sees Matt Just Sneak Past Huge Outsider

Matt Terry has been crowned the winner of this year’s X Factor and held off an incredibly late charge from Saara Aalto. As the live shows began, Matt was the 6/4 red hot favourite with William Hill and Saara was 50/1.

In play the betting could not have been any closer with both acts level in the betting at 10/11 as the result was announced.

“Over the last couple of weeks, Saara had become the favourite and it looked as though Matt’s seemingly iron grip on this year’s crown had slipped at the wrong time,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “This was the closest X Factor final of all time in terms of the betting odds.”

One unlucky London based customer staked a total of £30,500 on Saara winning the X Factor.
