Bookies Fear JP Hotpot

JP McManus scored with a well-backed favourite in the Betfair Hurdle in 2013 (My Tent Or Yours) and he has a strong hand for this weekend’s feature at Newbury.

McManus owns the top two in the betting and has five horses declared for the race – but there’s one in particular that William Hill fear.

“The momentum is entirely behind Blazer and given our increasing liabilities, we fear JP McManus’ hotpot,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Meanwhile, in the Game Spirit Chase, Dodging Bullets is the 4-6 favourite, with Captain Conan and Top Gamble the nearest rivals at 9-2.

“If Dodging Bullets has any chance of winning this year’s Champion Chase, then this should be a penalty kick, but he’s been off the track for nearly a year and that could be his undoing,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Dodging Bullets is 8-1 to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase with William Hill.

Rocky Creek, holds favouritism for the Denman Chase – he’s the 13-8 market leader to win the race named after the Nicholls-trained Gold Cup hero.
