Australia: Mayweather and McGregor to face off?

UFC and boxing fans around the world started salivating on Sunday night when Irish UFC champion Conor McGregor posted a photo of himself and the undefeated boxing veteran Floyd Mayweather on his social media channels.

The prospect of a boxing match between the two superstars has punters very excited, with online bookmaker William Hill having Mayweather a heavy favourite.

“Floyd’s record speaks for himself having never tasted defeat in any professional boxing fight. He comes from a great line of fighters, his speed and his technical nous should be too superior for McGregor to handle,” a William Hill spokesperson said.

William Hill also has a market on the method of victory for the much touted fight.

“Mayweather by points or decision is the clear favourite. He has not knocked anyone out since stopping Victor Ortiz in round 4 in their fight in 2011. He finished his career on a streak of seven consecutive points or decision victories.”

Mayweather, who has not fought since retiring in September 2015 and is currently undefeated at 49 wins from 49 fights, has hinted at a possible comeback.
