Article 50 Decision Sparks Early Election Gamble

BOOKMAKERS William Hill have cut their odds about a General Election taking place next year from 6/4 (40% chance) to 6/5 (45% chance).

Hills make 2020 10/11 favourite to be the year of the next General Election.

The Conservatives are 8/11 favourites with Hills to win the next General Election with an overall majority, for which Labour are 6/1, with a Hung Parliament quoted at 13/8.

Hills have opened a betting market on whether Parliament will get to vote on Article 50 before the end of next year – and offer 8/11 that there WILL be such a Parliamentary vote, Even money that there will not.

Hills offer 1/2 that the UK will leave the EU in 2019; 9/4 in 2020 or later; 6/1 2018 or earlier.

'The Article 50 question might yet trigger an early General Election according to some political punters' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
