Another By Election Upset?

BOOKMAKERS William Hill have not taken a single bet on Labour winning the Sleaford by-election, for which they are currently quoted at odds of 80/1. The Conservatives are red-hot favourites at 1/10, although they have lengthened from their opening odds of 1/33, but Hills have seen support for Ukip to pull off a shock victory at odds of 5/1 (16% chance)- having opened at 20/1(5%). The Lib Dems who upset Zac Goldsmith in the Richmond Park by election are unfancied 25/1 chances.

'By elections always offer the possibility of a shock result - but it seems noone believes Labour could pull one off here' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

However, in the 'without the Conservatives' market, Hills make Ukip odds-on favourites at 4/9 (opened at 7/4) to defeat all the other candidates, with the Lib Dems 9/4; Labour 10/1; Any other Party- 33/1.

The Tories won this election with 56% of the votes cast at the General Election and Hills offer 8/13 that they will win 43.01% or more of the votes, 6/5 43% or under.
