Altior Cut For Arkle After Win

Altior is now 2-1 favourite from 5-2 with William Hill for the Arkle Trophy after winning a match race at Kempton against Black Corton. Altior was the superstar winner of the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle last season for Nicky Henderson.

“Altior is the one they all have to beat in the Arkle,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “He could be a real force to be reckoned with as a chaser and no bookmaker will want to offer big odds about him adding to his Cheltenham Festival tally.”

Earlier on the card, Lough Derg Spirit won the novices’ hurdle and William Hill have installed him at 16-1 for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.

Supreme Novices’ Hurdle: 6-1 Moon Racer, 10-1 Jenkins, Peace News, 14-1 Melon, 16-1 Lough Derg Spirit, Penhill, 20-1 Ballyandy, Battleford, Senewalk, 25-1 BAR (EW 1/5 Odds Places 1,2,3)
