£4,000 Wager On Nick Skelton In Sports Personality Of The Year

With Sports Personality just around the corner, William Hill can report the first big move as to who will finish second.

Andy Murray is the 1/8 favourite to win the award and Alistair Brownlee is the 4/6 favourite in the betting without the Scotsman. Nick Skelton, however is the big mover of the day and his odds have been cut from 12/1 to 10/1 to finish second (should Andy Murray win) after a £4,000 wager from a London based customer.

“Andy Murray seemingly has this year’s SPOTY sewn up and perhaps the more interesting betting market is who will finish second to him,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “The Racing & Eventing crowd will  get behind Nick Skelton as they did A.P. McCoy a couple of years ago and we have a big move with just a couple of days to go.”

Sports Personality of the Year of the Year without Andy Murray: 4/6 Alistair Browlee; 11/2 Gareth Bale; 6/1 Laura Trott; 6/1 Mo Farah; 10/1 Nick Skelton; 16/1 Jamie Vardy; 25/1 Max Whitlock; 50/1 Jason Kenny; 100/1 Adam Peaty; 100/1 Danny Willett; 100/1 Kadeena Cox; 100/1 Kate Richardson Walsh; 100/1 Nicola Adams; 100/1 Sarah Storey; 100/1 Sophie Christiansen
